Model Me

Just a quick post of the things I wore for the class yesterday. I did get around to it. I went for polar opposites here, but I love dressing both ways. :) And I think the dress is a bit of a spring tease, because I would probably freeze before I could take 10 steps outside in it.

And there's always that issue! I look at many blogs where the girls are so brave to go out in the cold and take pictures, but I am so chicken. I can't take the least bit of cold. I am especially astounded at Aya from Strawberry Koi. When she wore that lovely purple number out in the snow I was like "Oh, gosh!" Haha.

And a final note: I finally joined Bloglovin, so follow me there if it better suits you! Have a good weekend!

From Day To Night

If you guys haven't noticed, I really have a thing for stripes and plaid.

Sporting my favorite sweater, I went to be a model for a fashion sketching and design class today. I didn't take pictures, though! Agh. They had me bring a few different oufits to shake things up a bit. It was flattering to be asked to model. :) And I got paid for it! It was exciting and they asked me to come back. If time permits it tomorrow, maybe I will post some pictures of the things I wore for them--an H&M dress, a stretchy mini with striped & buttoned leg warmers, the works. Haha.

For now, this is just some night time pictures of the casual ensemble I wore for the class today:

Jeans - H2J
Boots - Bakers

Dimanche.

Shame on me for not getting these up 'til now. They aren't at all about how I look. I get really lazy on Sundays after church. I get all dressed up in the morning and I come home and just throw on my jeans. No, these are more fun than fashion. Kelly, from Vigne de fleurs, and I took a stroll down town Sunday afternoon. We practically had the streets to ourselves. It was a relaxing way to spend the last day of the weekend.

Shirt - Charlotte Russe
Jeans - Levi
Shoes - Sperry
Bag - H&M ♥
Bracelet - Gap

Love you all.

Rendez-Vous Ridge

It feels like Saturdays are rare for me. After all, I have to work every other Saturday AND Sunday. It can be a bummer sometimes. Today, I was off and guess what! I got a tripod, so no more mirror-ops. Yes! I was getting rather tired of that. And that's one of my kitty cats, Layla Belle. Isn't she darling?

Aujourd-hui, I went to Bobby and Judy Allison's 50th wedding anniversary. It took place at Benny Parson's house/winery and guys, they were both former Nascar drivers, so we're talkin' swanky. I know people were probably lookin' at me like "Whhhat is she doing?" but i was taking all kinds of pictures, only because so many pretty things were there to be gandered at. Haha, gander.

Dans Mon Sac

Lots of bloggers I have read have emptied their purses to show others what's inside. Because everyone knows a woman's purse is a mystery--you never konw what you might find! Well, here are the typical contents of mine.

A notebook for whatever reason.
I usually carry a book. This one is Madame Bovary by Flaubert in its original french text.
My glasses in a Vera Bradley case.
Dr. Dre Beats earphones. Guys, these things are the bomb.
LOLA lipstick (Lust Often, Love Always) in "Smitten." I love the built-in mirror!
My completely favorite leather wallet in the world by Lodis.
My keys with the typical cards to anywhere and everywhere.
Ice Breakers.
My favorite "Pickles the Frog" pen by Sanrio.
My sleek phone. Feel the love.
And my iPod. I use it more than anything.
Purse - H&M

Alix & Betty

Taking a break from the average, I decided to make a little "ode to" post about my two top inspirations in the fashion world: Alix & Betty. Do you know these two? To be honest, their blogs were the deciding factor in me starting my own, in hopes that someday a smidgen of their fashion sense might rub off on me and I could grow into the fashion icons they have become for sooo many girls.

A little back-to-back of them: they are both tough and feminine at the same time, but I would venture to say Betty's style is a bit more edgy than Alix's. Alix has a certain and beautiful delicacy about her, though. They are both beautiful! And Betty has a new blog coming soon, so we will be saying bye bye to the old Betty and hello to a new one! It would be a dream come true to meet them.

Thank you ladies for being my inspiration!

Throwing Ideal Out The Window

Dear Everybody,

Valentine's Day was completely not ideal for me. I'm not complaining, but I woke up at 4 am and I was sick from there on out. So, that means I was also pretty tired all day. Remember that beautiful dress I bought at Anthropologie? Yeah, I didn't get to wear it for V-day like I planned! I was having to sleep in just to ward off the feeling of sickness. And to top it all off, I had to go to work from 2 to 6. I couldn't even stand up straight, but I got better as the day wore on. I'm feeling a lot better today. :)

Anyhow. I didn't get to wear my dress. But I suppose there will be other special days to put it on. I did, however manage something on Saturday before I went to work at 11. The library opened late due to a couple inches of snow here. Yes!

Hats, Gloves, & Pearls

I'm feeling sort of inspired regarding the '30s today. Way back then, there was no such thing as taking a day off from fashion. Or, at least, from our perspective. Women who could afford it were always up on the latest looks. I can't say I own any article of clothing that resembles any of these inspired looks, but, just for fun, here's some photos from the '30s to make us all stop and stare. The photograph above is my absolute FAVORITE. So. Beautiful.

More Or Less

Ha-zah! I just got back from a long long day of shopping at the mall. I only bought one thing, but I am sooo happy. Recently I've decided I would rather spend more on less than buy a pile of bargins. And I'm proud to say I already own a few key AND strikingly expensive pieces. Honestly, the quality is better and expensive things are more form fitting. Others may not agree, but let's agree to disagree. I've always had expensive taste anyway.

These are just a few of the places I gawked over today. When I say more expensive, I can hardly say I'm in reach of the Louis Vuitton lugage or even an Hermes scarf. Maybe one day.
So, to satisfy my crave for something decently expensive, I ended up buying this amazing and beautifully detailed dress at a growing favorite: Anthropologie. *Gasp* I apologize that I can't give you a more satisfying photo of the fabric and lace. And I'll have to wear it another time.
And myself? I sort of went with the American Classic look today. It's comfortable to some degree. But, gosh, this fancy mall made me feel pretty plain. Didn't have time to snap a picture before I departed this time, so I took one in the skinny mirror at Bakers. They have one that makes you look big, too!
Next time I spend $100 at the mall, it's going to be on a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses.  :)
